african world cup 2010 qualifying

The first round of the African qualifying zone for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ Finals sees 47 countries split into 12 round-robin groups, with each team playing each other home and away.

The 12 groups winners and eight best runners-up advance to the final round, where they will be divided into five round-robin groups. The five group winners will qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ Finals.

As host, South African automatically qualifies for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ Finals. South Africa is participating in the African World Cup qualifiers because they also serve as the qualifiers for the 2010 African Cup of Nations.
